Die Schmitt Iridium-Zündkerze ist speziell für klassische DDR Fahrzeugmodelle von Simson und MZ konzipiert und basiert auf dem Design der damaligen DDR Zündkerzen von Isolator. Mit einem 260er Wärmewert, äquivalent zu einem 8er Wärmewert von NGK Zündkerzen, ist sie vielseitig einsetzbar in Fahrzeugen mit einem kurzen 14er Gewinde.
Die Iridium-Zündkerze von Schmitt zeichnet sich durch eine sehr dünne Mittelelektrode aus, die die Zündspannung effizient auf eine kleine Fläche verteilt. Dies führt zu einem starken und konzentrierten Funken, der auch unter extremen Bedingungen eine saubere Verbrennung gewährleistet. Zudem wird das Verkoken der Elektrode reduziert, was die Haltbarkeit der Kerze deutlich erhöht.
Iridium-Zündkerzen sind bekannt für ihre hohe Haltbarkeit im Vergleich zu Standard-Zündkerzen. Sie tragen zur Reduzierung des Kraftstoffverbrauchs bei und halten den Brennraum länger frei von Verbrennungsrückständen.
